Plastic surgeon is a member of a multidisciplinary team . He registers new patients, performs the operations and coordinates the entire multidisciplinary team.
The surgery includes the suture and modelation of lip and nose, palatoplasty, alveolar bone grafting – in cooperation with maxillofacial surgeon, and corrective surgery of lip and nose during adolescence. Surgical approach includes suturing of muscles and other tissues that did not connect in the womb during the development of the baby.
There are many different surgical procedures. You will learn about them during the controls.. Experts from the cleft team will guide you through the treatment. Since every child develops individually, the need for surgeries and the timing varies.
