ENT

Children with facial cleft defects tend to have impaired Eustachian tube function. The middle ear environment ceases to be ventilated, the fluid is formed and the patient’s hearing is poor. If left untreated, the condition worsens and severe chronic inflammation can develop. This situation can seriously damage the child’s hearing. Therefore, ENT doctors monitor patients to recognize these changes in time and treat them immediately.

Depending on the age, severity of the disease and the degree of cooperation of the child, it is possible, for example, to apply gromets (tubes that equalize the pressure in the eardrum, which temporarily replace the function of the Eustachian tube) or to conservatively exercise with patients using special nasal balloons.
